Records useful for family history :- I keep meaning to compile a list but these are off the top of my head.
First ask your family what they know, mum, dad, uncles aunts grandparents etc.
Civil Registers back to 1837 Birth, Marriages & Deaths. Census, Schools, Employment Wills, Administrations, Probate, Inventories, Immigration, Emigration, Newspapers, Directories, Church records (Parish Registers & Bishops Transcripts back to 1538) Baptisms + Births, Marriages (Banns, Licences), Maps, Poor law & Settlement records, Apprenticeship, Monumental Inscriptions, Heraldry, Burial clubs, Bibles, Adoption records, Health records, National and local tax records, Hospital & Coroners records and a host of other records that have not come to mind at the moment such as Freemans rolls
Not forgetting DNA.
Cheers
Guy
