Hepzibah Holland 1871,1891,1901,1911
« on: Thursday 21 April 22 14:08 BST (UK) »
Hepzibah Smith married Thomas Holland in 1842 in Hales Lincolnshire and had two children, Samuel and Sarah.

With a forename like that I should be an interesting story and it would helpful if you could aid me in missing apparences in the census's in the title to this topic.

Many thanks

What makes you believe she's alive 1881+?

Or even in Lincolnshire?

Her husband was John Holland, not Thomas.

That's a lot of censuses you say you haven't found her in?  If she married in 1842 - she was probably born around 1820 ish so by 1911 would be around 90 - so have you found a death for her to support your request?

Also - if you have her in 1851 & 1861 - it would be helpful if you posted full details of the entry as you haven't given any relevant info about any of the family apart from names

Many Thanks. I thought that there might be an interesting back story as George Eliot's 1861 novel "Silas Marner" had a character called Hepzibah.

So nothing to do with Family History - but a lot of our time wasted here  ::)

And did Eliots character marry John Holland in Lincolnshire 1842 & have 2 children?  I think not so where did that come from??

Is he looking for a "real" person ? Or is it just a story?
