Rhyd Inn Publican
« on: Saturday 16 April 22 14:03 BST (UK) »
Hi all,
I have uncovered a 3xgreat grandfather, named Edward Thomas who on his son's baptism in Bedwellty Parish, is noted as the publican of the Rhyd Inn, Tredegar. The baptism was on 19th Oct 1825.

Being in Australia, my familiarity with Welsh geography is rudimentary. Tredegar seems reasonable size and yet I cannot find reference to any Rhyd Inn in any of my searching. A topic here in RootsChat informs me that "Rhyd" means "Ford"; but that has not helped to date.

"Tredegar Old Pubs" - https://www.tredegar.co.uk/old_pubs.htm - makes no reference to it.

If there is a better source to read, I would be most grateful. Or even better: can someone tell me about "Rhyd Inn"?

Thanks in Advance,
miles thomas

Hi Miles,
There is a pub known as the  Rhyd Hall on a street which is also called The Rhyd in Tredegar.
Check it out here: https://www.bigreddirectory.com/rhyd-hall-tredegar.

There's a few newspaper articles which refer to Little Rhyd Inn in Beaufort
