Robert Radcliffe b. 1808 in Lathom

I am trying to find the father of Robert Radcliffe B.1809 In Lathom. His mother was known as both Nancy and Anne Radcliffe. I have a feeling he was born before his mother married and was hoping to find a baptism record which might confirm this.

I did find one record where the date fits although it was not at the exact location with the mother named as Ellen and the entry says base born.

I am wondering if this is Nancy/Anne calling herself a different name, was this something that was done at times?

Any advice would be very welcome

Nancy and Ann are often interchanged but Ellen is a stretch. 

When did the mother marry?  How do you know who his mother was without a baptism?

Do you have a marriage for Robert to see what the certificate shows for his father (if anything)

Would this be the Robert Radcliffe 31 Mar 1809 to 6 Feb 1888, he is on the 1851 to 1881 census returns with his wife Elizabeth born Lathom, all census returns in Wigan area, Roberts occupation varied each census.

I’m guessing that the census records are the source of the year and place of birth, where did you find the record which states his mothers name?

Their eldest daughter in 1861, she is married by 1871.

I have no certificates as yet. I have taken over the tree for the person who is related to them all and he has a family bible listing all of them

All census returns state that Elizabeth was one year older than Robert about 1809 & were both born Lathom.
Although parish records for Lancashire are on Ancestry, Lathom is not listed, I have also checked Family Search & Freereg with no success.
