Mary Ann Johnson Norcross was my g-grandmother. Her parents were Absolom Johnson and Jane Stitt. Their children were Mary Ann (Dolly), Ellen (Nellie) who married Jacob Elwood, and James E. Johnson. Absolom Johnson and his brother William married sisters. William Johnson and Mary Stitt helped raise Absolom's children. Dolly was with another Stitt sister Eliza and husband Thomas Snowden in the 1860 census. William and Mary also had a child named Absolom born in 1857 just months after brother Absolom died. The child Absolom Johnson died in 1862. When the Stitt family (Elizabeth and her children) came to America, their surname was recorded as Still in The Famine Immigrants 1846-1851, and Jane's surname was recorded as Gaman. Thank you for providing her marriage date and identification as Gorman. Who were Absolom's and William's father and mother(s) in England?
