the tree owner only has Jean Farquhar b 1753 - no other children - which makes me think Jean is an ancestor of his .- he goes back to
Thomas and Lady Mary Farquhar born 1410 in Montrose - a couple of Laird of between Thomas 1410 and Hugh b 1718

The thing is, no paper trail, no sources = no reliability  :-\

you are absolutely right Roisin - I normally start with - "not all trees are correct "  but I didn't in this instance  :)

More good ideas for me to follow, especially Farqhuar families in Galston, which I gather is not too far from New Cumnock.  Suggestions are much appreciated.

I am researching my ancestors Hugh Farqhuar and Jean Wilson
They had 3 children, John, Jean and William born at Riggfoot farm, 3 km from New Cumnock Ayrshire Scotland 1751-1755.

What are the names of the children of John, Jean & William, sometimes there are clues in younger generation families?

Annie

Moving on 200 years, my Doctor during the 1960's was a Dr.Farquhar who had a surgery in Oswaldtwistle Lancashire, could he have been related to you?
