Identifying uniform

Wondering if someone can help identifying the uniform on this man?. He is unknown although a member of the "Bratby " family. He previously was identified as Thomas Phillip Bratby but no military records can be found for Thomas. I'm hoping that by identifying the uniform , I will be able to search records to identify the man. Thanks for any help you can give.

Good morning,
Is that the complete photo or is there more of it. It would help if we could see more of the tunic.

Am I right in thinking that this could be an Australian uniform?

Good evening,
OK, that would be Boer war then in that style of uniform, ww1 would be plain khaki with none of the embelishments. I will see what I can find on the uniforms of that era.

Two WW1 era records below. Do either of their names ring a bell?
Bratby Frederick John : SERN 553 : POB Sydney NSW : POE Charleville QLD : NOK M Bratby Hannah
Bratby George Sidney : SERN 5798 : POB Mudgee NSW : POE Brisbane QLD : NOK W Bratby Margaret

Thank you for your help , John915, appreciate it.
yes -Hillhurst. Have details and photos of both of those. They are brothers and supposedly the photo is of the eldest brother born 1876.If uniform is from 2nd boer war 1899 to 1902 ,than not Thomas Phillip as his children were born 1896, 1898, 1901, etc. In Mudgee NSW Australia. Hope this helps.

Do either of the brothers' online service records indicate Boer War service? If so, that may confirm regiment details for the chap in the photo.

Many thanks for your help, Hillhurst. Frederick Bratby enlisted in 1916 with no previous service . Stanley enlisted in 1918 with also no previous service. At a lost where to go now
