Good Evening Listers
I am seeking information about a small district or township or property near Cootamundra NSW by the name of "Cowcumbla". My Great Uncle James Patrick Powell was born at Cowcumbla / Cocumbler on 1st June 1876.The NSW BDM Registry  Birth Index showed the birth was registered in the Gundagai District.  His marriage to Mary Jane Hoare on 10 February 1909 was in Cootamundra and the Certificate stated that he was born in Cowcumbla. There is a street in Cootamundra also named for this district. Any help will be of great appreciated Regards Petwal

NSW 1878 Electoral Roll for Murrumbidgee.

George Powell, residence, Cucumbia.

CUCUMBIA as a locality in the then Gundagai Police District.  :D

After 1 a.m. here, I will look further when it is daylight.

Hi there

I am uploading three snips.   These are from the 1920s maps used by the Surveyors and by legal bods when transferring land etc.   They can be difficult to read if you are not familiar with conveyencing matters in NSW.  I am fairly sure that the locality you are asking about was once owned by a FITZPATRICK, and that your George POWELL was overseer on that property when your James was born there. 

In past years, the Land Titles Office along with the Births, Deaths and Marriages Registers were all part of the NSW Registrar General's Office.   Nowadays, Lands Titles Office is in private hands.
