His majestys ship of war Cpt Clerk

Would appreciate if anyone has any information on James Strachan or the ship he was serving on ?
The information I have on him is as follows - James Strachan Cpt Clerk of his Majestys Ship of War The Alfred. He was residing in Crighton Street ,Leith Midlothian in November 1778. Thank you
