Ancestry Messaging?
« on: Thursday 10 March 22 14:35 GMT (UK) »
Does anyone have the slightest idea what's going on with the Ancestry Messaging system?

All I get is that it's unavailable at the moment, please try later. How much later - in an hour - a week - next year - after WW3? It's been like this for a week or more.

Mine seems to be working ok and has for the last few days I've used it.

Have you tried clearing cache, logging out and then back in etc, may help?  It is not the best system by a long shot, but that's another story.

Nope. It’s neither of those. I get the same result on both my desktop and my iPad so it’s clearly something at their end.

I find trying correspond with the ”boffins” at Ancestry like talking to a bag of sprouts.

As soon as I press Send, the message is marked as Read. I don’t think the person I’m trying to communicate with is waiting on line for my newest thoughts.

What? Talking to a bag of sprouts? - It’s a bit like talking to the boffins at Ancestry!

I’ve not used the messaging system recently but I’ve solved other problems (e.g. getting a blank screen when clicking on a link) by using a different browser.

Yes, this can often fix things. I could not use Microsoft Edge on Windows 10 for messaging as it never works and have to use Firefox. I can't use the app as it requires a newer OS ::). It may be that on older iPads the inbuilt Safari browser may be out dated (especially if you do not keep the iOS up to date). In that case you could try downloading an alternative browser such as Google Browser, Chrome, Firefox, Opera and see if those work.

I don’t see how it can be the browser that’s marking messages as Read as soon as they are sent.
