I was wondering if anyone in the 75+ age group had heard about the promised  2nd booster.

Not a word.

My Dad is approaching 90, high risk, and living in a nursing home that's just gone into lockdown for the umpteenth time, and they haven't been told a thing about when they might expect them.

Second boosters for at-risk groups
We will soon begin inviting those aged 75 and over and those at highest risk of severe Covid-19 disease forward for their second booster vaccination.

People in the following groups will receive blue envelopes with appointment details:

* adults aged 75 years and over
* individuals aged 12 years and over who are immunosuppressed

These people will be invited as they become eligible from at least 24 weeks after their last booster, with the first groups receiving appointments from 31 March.

Our vaccination teams will begin vaccinating residents in care homes for older adults from 16 March 2022.

I had my 2nd Booster the week before last.  I had a letter recommending it, as I am on chemo-therapy treatment.  I just took my letter and current medication to the local walk-in centre.

So it looks as if the  non-immuno-suppressed in England haven't been contacted yet. We had our 1st booster in October and I think the 6 mth/24 weeks should be up in early April but there's nothing on our local website or nationally that I can see.

I am also having chemotherapy, and I had my fourth about a month ago. Being immunosupressed my first three jabs are regarded as primary, and the fourth my first booster.

My brother was one of the first to have his initial jab.  He had his fourth a couple of weeks ago.  A friend who is registered with a surgery in a neighbouring village and should be getting a fourth is still waiting.  Her practice was very slow to get going in the initial rollout.

My GP was surprised I hadn’t been invited for a second booster as I’d received the letter about having a PCR test at home and if that was positive being entitled to some new treatment. Anyhow GP wrote letter to take with me and I’m having the jab at the end of the month.

I hope all vulnerable people get their 2nd booster soon. Inevitably since all legal restrictions were removed, cases, hospitalisations and deaths are on the rise again.

deaths: up 19.5% on a week ago

tests conducted in last 7 days under 4.5 million.
