I think this photo may be of Dungiven Police Station in Dungiven Co . Derry/Londonderry. I would be very grateful of any information regarding a possible date.

Many thanks

1910-1929 Valation Revision books place a station near a Michael McDermott and a Patrick McCloskey. Refer to 1911 census, and there is a Michael McDermott, publican on Main Street and a Patrick McCloskey, general merchant and justice of the peace. Possibilities for the properties either side of your picture, perhaps.

Could the presence of what looks to be barbed wire at front, indicate timescale around 1920/21?

Do you have a family surname associated with the station and a member with this surname in the picture?

Adverts for tenders for new barracks were placed in 1928.

I agree with Shaun. Perhaps more to the earlier end of the range.

I'd say its WW1 era: 1914-1920

Thank you all for your information in dating this photo. The lady's dress standing in shop doorway on the left of the barracks must also support the early date for the WW1 time frame. I have no family connection with RIC but have a great interest in local history.

I would say near to 1920 as it looks like an attempt to bolster security with the wire around the station.
