I have now looked at Roseanne Greenan - sister of James Greenan and have  found the following -

Roseanne Greenan was born 2/5/1890 - parents check out as James Greenan & Roseanne Sherlock - they married on 14/5/1876 Parish of Donagh, County Monaghan.

Roseanne Greenan married Henry Viner Turner on 2/10/1912 and died on 27/11/1968. Her usual place of residence was 106 Restalrig Road South, Edinburgh. From the Edinburgh Electoral Register they were at this address for a number of years. Her death was registered by her son Robert Turner - address 24 Findlay Avenue, Edinburgh. Around 5 minutes walk from his parents. Roseanne's parents check out. Henry Turner died on 1/9/1952 and death registered by the same son Robert. Addresses same as above.

I know this area of Edinburgh well as I lived there for 25 years in the 1960/1990's.

Now to try and trace the son Robert and another one named Henry.

Robert Turner son of Roseanne Greenan and Henry Viner Turner -

Born on 6/11/1912 at Kings Road, Portobello, Edinburgh.
He married Marjory W. Holloway on 3/6/1939. His address is given as 106 Restalrig Road South, Edinburgh and one of the witnesses was a Henry V. Turner of the same address - his brother.

Robert died in 2003 and Marjory in 1997 according to the SP Index. Mother's mms checks out.

I may have found a son of this marriage born in 1940 but as he is still living I will not post his name here but will P.M. Sandra with my findings.

Henry Viner Turner second son of Roseanne Greenan and Henry Viner Turner obviously named after his father -

Born on 17/11/1916 at 106 Restalrig Road South, Edinburgh.
He married Anna W. McIntyre in 1947according to SP Index.
Henry died in 2000 and Anna in 2006. Mms checks out.

I have found a son of this marriage born in 1955 but as he is still living I will not post his name here but will PM Sandra with my findings.

There are another two sons born to Roseanne Greenan and Henry Viner Turner - as follows
James Fraser Turner born 1/6/1921 at 106 Restalrig Road South and Alexander Turner born in 1922. Both are listed in the Edinburgh Electoral Registers (1964 last one available) as living at 106 Restalrig Road South, Edinburgh. No  marriage for either of them.
James died in 1989 and Alexander in 1994 according to the SP Index and mms checks out.

I may have found a grandaughter of James Greenan and Barbara Clark living in Edinburgh. She is the daughter of Rosann Greenan and John Allan Scott and was born around 1943. Her middle names are Clark and Greenan so hopefully this is her. I found a marriage for this lady in 1965.

Searching the Edinburgh Electoral Registers I have what I think is a current address for her and a telephone number from BT.

I will try to contact her and let you know the outcome.

Success I have just spoken to the lady and she has confirmed that she is indeed a grandaughter of James Greenan. She is quite willing to be contacted by CWGC regarding their enquiry.

I will pm Sandra with her details.

Well done!

Thanks scotsmum as you know it takes perseverance and trolling through lots of records to get a result. Plus local knowledge has helped a great deal.

An update on the Headstone for James Greenan.

I have received an email today from CWGC to say the Headstone has now been erected in Piershill Cemetery, Edinburgh.

Thank you all for your help in bringing this about.

Another success for RootsChat.
