Firminger/Furminger - Kent

I am trying to establish if there is a connection between two Firminger/Furminger families in Kent.  First is William Furminger wife Elizabeth who had their son James bapt 1785 Eltham (born Mottingham, he lived Bexley, Dartford later with descendant later living St James and St Giles in the fields, London). 
Second family is that of Thomas Furminger who wed 1769 Egerton, Kent to Mary Jennings.  They had sons Thomas bapt 1775 Egerton ad John 1769.
Just wondered if there are any Firminger/Furminger researchers on this site who may know.  Many thanks.

Rhodie -- are you sure about James, baptised 1785 please -- parents William and Elizabeth?

A James Furminger, with parents William and Elizabeth, was buried at Eltham on 31 May 1789, aged 4.

Looks like this is a different James now!  1851 he says born Mottingham circa 1781 which isn't that far from Eltham, just south of it.
