Actually it does seem a coincidence that the house numbers are the same ! Wow that is news and  possibility that they changed the name after all

There are lots more - Purse at 37, Phillips at 16, Martin at 29 and so on. All with the same house numbers at Park Prewett Cottages in 1930, and at Wellington Terrace in 1939.

Thank you all much appreciated I don't know if anyone in the Terrace is aware of the name change although we have people here in their 80s who have lived here since the 1960s so they will be delighted with this discovery as am I.   :)

Hi Shaun, I have tried again nothing in 1921 census, so far the help I have has shown people have found the address on 1930 register and 1939 but no one has found Park Prewett or Prewitt Cottages or Wellington Terrace on the 1921 Census.  The only reference to Park Terrace in the 1921 Census shows 9 results when I select I get another message stating No results found?? Have taken an image and will try to attach

As someone pointed out on the other thread, a 1921 address search for "Park" in Sherborne St John throws up these strange addresses. Might they be mistranscriptions of Park Prewett Cottages?

Park Barcent Cottages
Park Beecash
Park Cemer Cottages
Park Paere Cottages
Park Panick Cottages
Park Pannerth Cottages
Park Panneth Cottage
Park Pannish Cottage
Park Park Cottages
Park Parmith Cottage
Park Pasworth Cottages
Park Princess Cottages
Park Terrace Cottage

Hello Shaun, possibly, we have the village of Sherbourne st John which is 2 miles away.  Wellington Terrace was once in that parish but is now under Basingstoke and Deane.  I will have to do some more digging.  These houses were sold in 1986 when the ex Asylum/psychiatric hospital closed and sold off all its land and property.  Ex employees were given first dibs, if they could afford to buy they did if not they had to move out/away.

There are also some odd coincidences between Asylum Cottages in the 1920's, Park Prewett Cottages in the 1930's and Wellington Terrace from around 1938:

The Simpkins were at 3 AC then 3 PPC then 3 WT
The Purses were at 4 AC then 4 PPC (1929) before moving to 37 PPC (1930) then 37 WT
The Routleys were at 13 AC then 13 PPC then 13 WT
The Phillips were at 16 AC then 16 PPC then 16 WT

So it looks like Asylum Cottages were renamed Park Prewett Cottages then renamed again as Wellington Terrace.
