Hi All,
Thanks for your thoughts.
To my knowledge she wasn't a horse woman and I think its not scratching on the surface as it is a particular angle and shape.
Not sure why she would be carrying a whip though???
Some things we will never know.

It was the pale curvy lines that I thought might be scratches of some kind. The item behind and above that she is holding is definitely a cane of some kind or, possibly a parasol.

It might just have been a prop given to her by the photographer or it is of sentimental value to her and serves as a reminder of someone
Anyway, I had a play.
