Ancestry has Register of Soldiers Effects.
It states killed in action - France or Italy -widow Lillian.

Pension

More information such as date of marriage and birth dates of children are available on Fold 3 from past searches but I no longer have access.

Under Soldiers died WWI it has died Flanders France

At the time of his death he was serving in Italy with 176 Siege Battery, Royal Garrison Artillery. That unit's war diary may shed some light on the circumstances of his death.
