I would be very grateful for some assistance in tracing some further details of my Gt. Granddmother, Mary Elizabeth Morris who was born in Bridgnorth in abt 1870.
Thusfar I have found a birth certificate which gives a date of birth of a Mary Elizabeth Morris as 03.01.1870, daughter of Edwin Morris and Elizabeth Wall of Lye Mill, Morville.
Her marriage certificate of 1920 however, suggests she was born in 1873 and gives her father as Harold Morris, a porter.
To confuse matters further, her death certificate in June 1941 gives her age as 70 which makes her birth abt 1871.
My Gt.Grandmother was illiterate so the confusion of dates is probably understandable.
The marriage and death certificate are definately her, but I can't be confident about the birth certificate other than I know she came from the Bridgnorth area. She also had a sister Beatrice, (after whom her eldest daughter was named) who was believed to have married someone called Chamberlain.
Any help to untangle this would be much appreciated. Thanks. Peter
