Peter Robinson's drapers assistants 1871

1871 census page RG10 149 141 showing the people enumerated at 4a Little Portland Street, Marylebone.

There's a note in the margin which says "Mr Peter Robinson's Drapery Establishment assistants sleeping here the rest enumerated in Oxford Street"

Just thought it a lovely find.

I think Peter Robinsons became part of the John Lewis Partnership.

Must check,. am sure there is someone in my tree who worked for them

Peter Robinson's was never part of the John Lewis Partnership. but the original John Lewis worked there before starting his own business in Oxford Street in 1864. There's a lot of information about the history of John Lewis and the other stores acquired by the Partnership in the John Lewis Memory Store https://johnlewismemorystore.org.uk/
