The Old Priory Leominster
« on: Tuesday 25 January 22 11:23 GMT (UK) »
Hi, trying to find out some information re: Gwendoline Lewis was born 02/02/1912 The Old Priory Leominster. Birth certificate states -Her mom Cecilia Lewis (formerly Hoskins) of The Old Priory Leominster. Father- Evan John Lewis coal miner of 6 Pritchards Court, Bargates, Leominster.
Cecilia was born 1870 Blaina. She was previously married to Benjamin Davies (1890 Bedwellty), Frederick Taylor (1911 Crickhowell) the George Pritchard (1917 Leominster)
A few questions-
I cannot find a marriage for Cecilia & Evan. - were they ever married.
What was The Old Priory & why was Cecelia & Evan at different addresses.
Who was Evan John Lewis.

Have you found both parents on the 1911 census to see where they were living - either together or separately?

That's a lot of marriages in a short time - what happened to Frederick Taylor - had he died in 1911?

I see there were 4 Davies children but none are with their mother in 1911.

I think we need to find her in 1911 to see who she was with.

Would you believe it, tried to look up the address and can't find number 6 - goes consecutively but no number 6.

If you do a search for The Old Priory Leominster it looks like it was the workhouse until 1930 so she likely went there to give birth.

Yes Kay think that must be her.  Looking for Evan now.

In 1901 there's an Evan J Lewis single age 34 living with parents and sister.  Not saying he is the right man but one to look at.

Living Wye View Clifford Herefordshire.  Father is a famer.  Evan is general man on farm.
