Local cemetery burial records for Tynemouth district (excluding Blyth area) are held at North Shields local studies.
I can't go just yet because of work, but if you wish, I will try at some point within the next few weeks to see if I can find Oscar in the records in 1956.  Let me know if you would like these records found.
Incidentally, were they Catholic?  This is a local Catholic Church you have mentioned.

With regard to his MN service he appears to have served as follows - the records from the Fourth Register of Seamen are probably not complete and he will have done other voyages. If you need his full WW2 record you would need to consult    BT 382/887 at National Archives Kew by visit or via a researcher. Any questions re MN service please feel free.

Hi
Here is your Oscar from Sweden. He was born 23 Dec in Söderala Parish. His parents were Nils Erik Jonsson and Karolina Sonesdotter.
You'll have to be a member (which is free) to see the later records in the 1900s.

The minister had noted that he was a whaler and that he was believed to be dead in 1915.
