NUTBOURNE records
« on: Monday 17 January 22 02:22 GMT (UK) »
Hi there

I am struggling to find where to look for Nutbourne bmd records.

I am particularly interested in the name CHATFIELD and have been trying to find the birth/baptism record for Elizabeth Chatfield born around 1795-1805.

Also Elizabeth's marriage record to Reuben KING sometime before 1841.

My father-in-law has a DNA match to someone with Elizabeth and Reuben's daughter, Lucy who married Edney LATTER in 1859 on Portsea Island and subsequently emigrated to the USA.

There is a tricky CHATFIELD in my tree and am wondering if Elizabeth could be the link through her parents/siblings.

Any help would be very much appreciated.   :)

Nutbourne was a chapelry within Westbourne, Sussex and think this could be her:

Elizabeth Chatfield bp.6/11/1798 Westbourne, dau. of Samuel and Sarah

siblings:

Samuel 12/4/1789
James 4/12/1791
Sarah 10/2/1793
Mary 3/4/1796
Ann 7/1/1801
Lucy 3/7/1803
Rebecca 1/9/1805
Eliza 7/10/1810
John 8/8/1813

Samuel Chatfield married Sarah Fatchings 25/12/1787 Westbourne

Samuel Chatfield bp.23/4/1764 Westbourne, son of John and Mary.

Findmypast - It looks as if Reuben King married Elizabeth Tipper 22/11/1835 Portsea, Hampshire although marriage shows she was a spinster I believe that is an error and that she was actually a widow.

Elizabeth Chatfield married a Henry Tipper 4/11/1821 Westbourne - looks like they had 3 children baptised in Bedhampton, Hampshire in 1822, 1824, 1827 and then in 1830 back in Westbourne where a dau. Emily baptised 14/3/1830.   Henry Tipper buried. 16/8/1831 Westbourne.

On 1841 Census Reuben and Elizabeth have with them (besides their own children) an Elizabeth Tipper and Emily Tipper who are 2 of the 4 children Elizabeth had with 1st husband Henry i.e. this is why I say her status as spinster when she married Reuben was stated incorrectly and that she was in fact a widow.

I note that in 1841 they have with them a son William King bc.1833 which is before they married.  Just looked at baptisms again and found:

William King Tipper bp.30/6/1833 Westbourne, son of Elizabeth Tipper.

Think this confirms the 1835 marriage don't you?
