Help to find WW1 Medal Cards please.

Sorry Folks but this one I need help with is Surname SMITH

L/Cpl 241214 Joseph Vernon Smith  1/6th King's Liverpool Regt received MM for action East of Ypres
20 September 1917 survived but Invalided Home.



Medal Card seems be under J W Smith ?

Can't find his 1914/15 Star or Service/Victory or Silver Badge

Can anybody help please?

I'm Confused though why Two Serial Numbers and is the MM award him or someone else in the 6th with same Name ?

It appears there was another Joseph Vernon Smith who also served with the KLR.
Service number: 39678. FindMyPast have a 1916 service file for this JVS. Born 1891. Possibly from Burnley.

His Pension card on Fold3 is next to the chap's card you are researching.

JVS' original service number with KLR was 3228. He was renumbered (241214) in 1917 along with other soldiers serving in Territorial Force battalions. Then he was given another number  P/153157 when he transferred to the Military Foot Police for home service after he was wounded.

It wasn't until 1920 that the old regimental numbering system was abolished and soldiers were given a service number that stayed with them throughout their army service.
