Cumstoun House, Twynholm

I am trying to find information about Cumstoun House near Tywnholm, particularly about its use and ownership around 1920 - 1930.  I have searched but can only find info about the architectural significance, but nothing about who actually lived there.    I would be very grateful if someone could point me towards a source for any information.

The 1920 valuation rolls  suggests that it might have been  owned by a Lt Col C A S Maitland.

Scotlands People have the valuation Rolls that cover the period that you're interested in.

Also appears to own the properties through to 1940. Full name s is Claud Archibald Scott Maitland.

Thank you for this Gadget.  Completely forgot about the Valuation Rolls.  Just looking at them now and can see there were many tenants as well as the owner Major Maitland.

After the end of WW1, and into the 1920’s the house was rented out, to various members of the aristocracy and landed gentry, eg once to a Lady Alice Anne, Duchess of Buckingham and Chandos, and more frequently to a local lady, Evelyn Maude Newlands Cross, from nearby Earlston House, Borgue
