Duties of a Flight Mechanic Airframes in WAAF WWII
« on: Tuesday 28 December 21 01:43 GMT (UK) »
Where might I find more specific duties of a Flight Mechanic Airframes in WAAF in WWII? Stationed with 13 Maintenance Unit at RAF Henlow 1943-46, my late mother was trained on Hurricanes, which I understand were the most common aircraft maintained at Henlow. I've seen a few posts on FMA generic duties, but they seemed to differ according to the base? Thanks in advance.

"RAF Henlow contributed (albeit indirectly) to the Battle of Britain, repairing Hurricanes that were damaged during the Battle". This link will provide additional info: http://www.rafsignalsmuseum.org.uk/page12.html

The Brooklands museum has a video on Facebook showing females working on Hurricanes doing tasks such as riveting aluminium frames, also fabric coverings such as the rear fuselage, pretty much anything on the mainframe.

Thank you, both. The video particularly is great.
