What happened to William Huntbach?
« on: Saturday 18 December 21 02:19 GMT (UK) »
I am researching William Huntbach who married Mary Ann Lines on the 15 July 1832 at St Peter & Pauls, Aston near Birmingham.
I can not locate this couple in the 1841 census, or a death of William and also can not locate any children (possibly one in 1835 and another in 1838).  Any ideas or information would be appreciated.

For some reason did they add the surname Morris??  :-\

I found the baptisms below of three children with the surname Huntbachmorris

I think this maybe the birth of the youngest Phoebe with mothers maiden name Lines

A William Huntbach dies at age 50 at Aston/Birmingham in 1865 ... would be 17/18 for the wedding though.

Don't know if this a red herring, but there are some HUNTBACH burials at St Saviour's church in Saltley, just south of Aston, but the ages are a little out:

William HUNTBACH, Duddeston, buried 19 Nov 1865, age 50
Mary HUNTBACH, Duddeston, buried 11 March 1866, age 48

Thanks for everyone’s time & effort with this.

Yes Kay99, the Morris family indicated is part of the research, however connecting them to this marriage has three hypothesises:
1.   The marriage is not connected to the family, just common names.
2.   The family changed their name from Huntbach to Morris.  Not sure why they would do this.  Also the name Morris only appears after 1840 and only on some records.  Also using the census birth places & years, a birth of a William Morris in Bilston is possible, but should it be Huntbach?
3.   Mary Ann Lines marries William Huntbach, has two children.  Then something happens to William Huntbach (maybe death, overseas), Mary Ann Lines ends up with William Morris (possibly no marriage record), the first two children sometimes use HuntbachMorris (would this be accepted practice at this time) as their surname, then the rest of the children use Morris as surname. Note that there is no mention of Huntbach on Eleanor's or Phoebe's birth registration (Only on the church records shown)

So research is to locate records to support or reject these hypothesises.

If anyone has any thoughts, possible documents/ sources of information that may assist, it would be appreciated.
