University Project, Software for the Analysis of Census Returns
« on: Saturday 11 December 21 15:35 GMT (UK) »
Hello RootsChat,

My name is Stephen Tippin and I am currently completing the third year of a computing course at the University of Worcester. For my final project, I am attempting to design and build a piece of software that will allow family historians to store and analyse census returns.

At present the analytical tools that I am considering are only applicable to my own requirements, but I am sure that there will be other tools that should be considered for the final software. This is where you come in, if you have 5 to spare it would be great if you could fill in the questionnaire linked to this message.

The questionnaire focuses on what analytical tools family historians would like to see in the software, as well as what the final piece of software should look like. Most questions are giving a rating out of 10 for certain tools, or how you feel about existing software.

All data obtained from the questionnaire is 100% anonymous. No personal detail will be obtained that is able to identify who has provided a response. In line with the University of Worcester’s guidelines and the Data Protection Act (2018) all responses will be deleted within a year of completing the project (est. May 2023).

To ask any further questions, please feel free to contact myself, Stephen Tippin, or my project supervisor Richard Wilkinson.

If you are able to help out the link to the questionnaire is; https://forms.gle/qDYWe9sDgfjvHq2P9

Thank you for your time,
Stephen Tippin

The form takes ages to load, then gets stuck at Page 1. It looks like it's looking for me to confirm that I have read the information and am happy to take part in the research, but there's nowhere to click to agree to this. Clicking on Next does nothing.

Hoping it's a temporary glitch, but posting this in case you get no uptake, so that you know why!

I could not get past page 1 either, but I thought it was because I had to sign in to Google, I refuse to have a Google “account”  :)

Thanks for confirming that, Mike. I did sign in to Google but got exactly the same as you. The blurb suggested that signing into Google was just to save your place, so that you could come back to the form later…
