Fantastic news that you’ve got to the bottom of it and I hope your half brother will be OK about it.  I’m not sure if I posted previously but I speak  from the opposite scenario some 6 years  ago we had my MIL’s DNA tested to help her cousin try to find her natural father by basically identifying her maternal matches.   A couple of years later we received a message out of the blue from someone who’s mother appeared to be MILs half sister .. older than her born when her father was still married to his previous wife (he got through 3) the family had done their research before messaging us and I checked it, right area, and so on for it to be her father.    MIL has dementia so we never told her we made enquiries of a couple of members of FILs remaining  family family to see if they had heard rumours as all the families were quite prominent in the area .. this was not a maidservant being messed around with , but no one knew anything.   We met the half cousin who is definitely related by his looks and shared information but as regards the current generation’s feelings it’s water under the bridge as it happened in the 1920s.   Please don’t be disappointed if this happens to you.

Skoosh.

Perhaps, considering modern and potential future reproductive technology, the saying should be expanded to " ... or his ain mither."

Skoosh...

That's a saying I came across many moons ago & it's true in quite a few cases as has been seen here & on other sites.

I thought I'd point out something 'unique' for the benefit of others who may find something similar...

If ever I had any doubt (I don't) of who my biological father was, I have the ultimate proof!...

I (a female) have the exact same birth mark, in the exact same location as my 'dad' & it wasn't painted on ;D

For me, that would have been 'solid' proof, not that I had any doubt, prior to doing a DNA test to find another relative & in the process, I have very close (confirmed by paper trails) matches to my father' relations.
