Robert Pate & Mary Elizabeth Brown, Hobart 1850s
« on: Friday 26 November 21 15:04 GMT (UK) »
Robert Pate was a distant relative of my husband.
He was sent to Tasmania in 1850 after attacking Queen Victoria.
He then seems to have married Mary Elizabeth Brown in 1857 - I've found online that she was classed as a wealthy 'heiress' but cannot find any more on her.  Was she from a well known local family i wonder?
Also I would be intereseted to know more of Robert's time there - he seems to have spent time at the Cascades - he was sentenced to 7 years deportation and later returned to LOndon in the 1860s.

Wow Christine, thank you so much - lots of new bits there for me - I had never found her parents or anything much about her.
So many leads to follow now - much appreciated.
