Yes, they were apparently friends who witnessed the wedding of John WILKINS (later WILKINSON) and Margaret Jones in Trevethin, in 1834, as per the marriage certificate.
Another poster has given me details of Catherine & Isaac being married (after both "widowed") on 17 Nov., 1832.   Isaac died 13 March, 1838.
In 1841 Trevethin Census, Catherine Cooper (65 yrs., as Independent) is living with John WILKINS 30, Collier, and wife Margaret 20, 2 children John 5, & Richard 2. Tnaks for help. Ruth

I think these are all relevant...thanks so much to everyone who have researched and replied.
I think Catherine & Isaac Cooper, who were witnesses at Margaret JONES' wedding to John WILKINS(ON) in 1834 were maybe Catherine JONES, Margaret's mother and her second husband Isaac COOPER. Dates fit. I don't know why the fact she is Margaret JONES' mother is not mentioned on wedding cert. where they all signed with "mark".
Catherine Cooper is with Wilkinsons again as 'Independent' (& Isaac has died) in 1841 Census (she died in 1842).
Above person in subject line is: Thomas Morgan JAMES not Jones (why can't my ancestors have an UNUSUAL Welsh name???). Other connections all then fall into line.  I just presumed being Margaret's cousin, he was named JONES - one should never presume!
