James Doyle b.1806
« on: Saturday 13 November 21 01:27 GMT (UK) »
Hi.  Looking for James Doyle born 1806 (RC) and wife Mary b.1816 (maybe Mary Kane) and dau. Mary Bridget Agnes b.1847.  Al found in Dublin but maybe just coincidence for such common names. They emigrated to Manchester, England where Mary Ann married William Kennedy in 1868.  That much we know but d.n.a. connects them to Dillon and Adair (possibly White) and Cameron (all COI or COE) in Queensland, Australia.  One genie site says Thomas instead of James but probably wrong. Cannot find any connection at all so does anybody out there have a clue. Any clue appreciated to unlock this.

You have daughter as Mary Bridget Agnes, then you have Mary Ann for marriage.

The marriage:
William Kennedy 24 yrs Shoemaker father John Kennedy, farmer
Bridget Agnes Doyle, 24 yrs father James, shoemaker
Both residing 37 Cheltenham St
Witnesses Joseph Doyle and ? Roberts.

Do you have the family in Manchester?
When you say ‘found in Dublin’ do you have parish records?

This looks like the family in 1881 3833/95/46 living in Bolton.

I know it doesn’t help with the search in Ireland but it gives context.

A couple of baptisms https://www.lan-opc.org.uk/indexp.html
John Joseph baptised 1869, St Patrick’s, Collyhurst  - William and Agnes
Godparent Joseph Doyle

Thomas 1873 1873 St Chad’s , Cheetham  - William and Mary Ann

So she changes her name around

Hi Heywood and others.  Thank you for the info.  My mistake.  I am looking for so many 'Mary Ann' I almost type it in my sleep.  It is indeed Mary Bridget Agnes Doyle.  A big shout out to Heywood you have it in one.  I am searching on behalf of a Kennedy and will pass it on.  The dna aspect is troubling as no one in my 'families' can come up with an explanation.  I will keep on digging. kenvic

Hi.  More for Heywood.  The Dublin info. came from irishgenealory.ie.  I have been tracing others from Dublin of the COI variety but stumbled on the RC Doyles.  That site excellent for Dublin records. kenvic

Well it seems she has a brother James abt 1860 and possibly Joseph - witness and Godfather.

Do you have anything in the censuses to indicate Dublin?

There is a James Doyle in censuses but he is born Mayo.

Hi Heywood.  Thank you for your interest.  I do think the Kennedy who contacted me via another party will have to start doing a bit of their own work on this.  There is, as I explained, a dubious dna connection with my family seems to exist yet of 3 people who have taken their dna tests only one shows a link.  My family is Dillon/Adair/White on the Irish side and they were dedicated COI.  The Doyles are RC.  Of course there is always the possibility of hanky panky way back when. There is also one Scottish link, Cameron, and I have encouraged the Kennedy to persue that too.  Unfortunately some people seem to want others to do their searching for them  Just as you have done.  I am sure they appreciate it but I will now let the Kennedy do the hard yards. Cheers kenvic
