Catholic Orphanage Abercrombie st GLASGOW
« on: Monday 08 November 21 21:37 GMT (UK) »
I have found in 1891 census a Daniel and Andrew Gallacher. They are both born in Barrhead and their ages are the same as 2 of my ancestors who were born in Barrhead.
The only thing is that their parents are still alive. I’ve checked their family 1891 census and they’re not on it. This makes me think it could indeed be them in the home.
Would it be possible for a family to ‘pretend’ the boys needed to go into the home or could there be another reason?

It could be that the families financial circumstances meant they were unable to provide for them.  Or Mum or Dad could have been ill etc etc
