Help with baptism record pls
« on: Thursday 23 September 21 16:01 BST (UK) »
Hi Guys,

Can someone possibly help me with this baptism record for 1579 Swalcliffe, Oxfordshire please?
Someone has it down as Julian daughter of Toram Lamb, I definately know that the fathers name starts with J as there is a John elsewhere on the record with the same style J, could the fathers name be Jerom?

Thank you

Ann

Looking at the image on Ancestry the father's forename is definitely Joram.

It could well be a variant spelling of Jerom.

Thank you for that  :) Do you have an idea what the daughters name could be?

It is Julian, as transcribed by Ancestry.  There's nothing unusual in Julian being a girl's name in the C16th.

Agree with horselydown86.

The first letter is an I (but that often stood for a J). The middle letter that almost looks like a w is an r.

Jehoram or  Joram was the ninth king of the northern Kingdom of Israel  - so very biblical!
