Hi Jim, I’m pretty sure now that it is William as he is the only one that I can find military records for. All the others were shipyard workers or as William was first in the merchant navy. Thats something else to look for, William's merchant seaman records.

Emma.

I don't think this can be someone born in 1901.
This man is wearing the pre 1916 economy tunic
so someone who enlisted pre-war - 1915.
William attested in 1920 as an 18 yo which was
the minimum age.

Did Elizabeth marry Q1 1919, Tynemouth?

She's not wearing a wedding  ring in the photo so, if so, it's before then.

Forget that question as it was the wrong surname for the spouse.  I see she married in 1923.

There is an online tree which has the person in your photo as Henry Hansen. Also gives a WW1 record. Served 1914-1920. in RNVR

Also Baden, merchant seaman  from 1916.

I'm not sure if it's your tree as it has a different name from yours - begins with S .

Hi Gadget. I Have spent all afternoon trying to sort my head out. I seem to be getting myself more muddled but I an so grateful for the help I am getting. (Just wish my mam was still with us.)
The other tree that has my photo with permission is Henry’s grandaughter. Begins with S. She knew nothing about her grandfather or her grandmother as they both died when her mother was very young. She was brought up by Albert and his wife.

When looking through her tree I found she had a photo of Baden which was on tree through Baden’s wifes family from first marriage.

My tree is Hansen Slater tree and I have just uploaded the photo of Baden. I have never seen the Merchant navy record so thanks for that info.

I have just looked at the youngest son Norman but nothing came to light for him.

I have just read Jim’s last comment so I really don’t know.

An utterly puzzle Emma.

It looks very much like a studio photo. Was there any surround or markings on the back that might help?
