Yes, I think that's the best course - I'll post if there's a significant development

Ticket raised with MyHeritage - reply was a cut and paste 'make you feel better' customer service reply that showed they hadn't understood the issue and directed me to a link for their Family Builder software 'to merge the two GEDCOMs'. I don't have two GEDCOMs and I don't have a computer that can run that software.

It all smacked of AI driven customer service support so I'm sorely tempted to raise another ticket, send the same query and see if I get the same reply. But life's too short. Seems I have largely wasted my subscription as I have less now than when I'd first uploaded my Ancestry DNA.

An idea as you have not much to lose.

Delete both trees. go to the original account site in the drop down listing top left and upload the new gedcom one.

Add - how many DNA matches do you have?

Have you read this?

https://www.myheritage.com/help-center/en/article/how-do-i-delete-my-family-tree-from-my-family-site

It suggests that you have to re-assign

Quote
Warning: If you are the DNA manager of one or more DNA files in your MyHeritage account, deleting a family tree will delete all DNA Matches generated for these DNA files. In order to retrieve those DNA Matches, you will have to reassign the DNA kit. For further instructions, please read:
How do I re-assign a DNA kit to a family member in my tree?

If you were looking to delete a family tree in Family Tree Builder, please read the following article:
How do I delete a tree in Family Tree Builder?

I'm now confused too as I didn't re-assign anything. I just removed the tree and then uploaded the new gedcom to the old site.

What I did:

I had one site when I uploaded my DNA and created it (a tree) in their tree builder but didn't like it, so I decided to upload one that I had converted to gedcom from my Family History prog.

I then created a new site:

https://www.myheritage.com/help-center/en/article/how-do-i-create-a-new-family-site

I then made sure I was in the new site by clicking it in top left box and uploaded the gedcom:

I'll have a read through all those link - thanks for ferreting them out - you're much better at this than their customer service! I have about 13,000 DNA matches - those are still intact and being added to - it's just no Smart Matches, No people or record Discoveries. Again I'll let you know if anything happens.

Just getting ready to change things tonight when an email arrived announcing 'You've got Record Matches' - so that part of my tree has now started to work. Seems like patience solved part of the problem - I'll wait to see if I get the Smart Matches.

You have to laugh. Got an email this morning from MyHeritage to say my 'new' tree has now been restricted to 250 souls and that they now want an addition £100+ to take my 'new' tree off basic subscription. I might speak to their helpline - I certainly won't be renewing my apparently wasted subscription anytime soon.

Yes they do have a way of getting you to pay more than you need to. I get all sorts of offers and upgrade suggestions. I ignore them.
