Just to update - a quick look at the Valuation Rolls on the ScotlandsPeople site confirms that a John Linton of Airdrie was the proprietor of several houses in Armadale at the time of the 1865 valuation roll.
For one of the entries associated with him, it states "2 houses" and under occupier it just states "various", whereas all the others have named tenants. It's likely that the property listed with 'various' tenants is the one described on Isabella's birth certificate as Linton's Land.
