Searching GRO index for marriages

Apart from FreeBMD, what has happened to the Gro Marriage index search at The General Register Office web site. It's a let down only having Births & Deaths. Thanks.

I don't recall the GRO site itself ever having the marriage indexes online.

Thanks Pauline, I'll have look there. Strange though, a few years back i ordered at different times p2 or 3 pre 1900 marriages & thought I had entered the data, found the couple & ordered hard copies. Thanks very much.

The GRO site* has never had a search facility for marriages.

I am having the same problem - For the life of me I cannot search the register for Marriages.   

I click on "Search the GRO Indexes", but it takes me to "Search the GRO Online Indexes" which gives searches for Birth and Death only. 

Which link(s) should I be using, please?

From their help pages:

2. Available Indexes
GRO online indexes are available to search for: birth records from 1837 up to 100
years ago, and 1984 up to the current year; and death records from 1837 to 1957,
and 1984 up to the current year. We are currently identifying a rolling programme to
put more of our indexes online and we will notify you via our website when any new
indexes are added.

You can view GRO’s birth, death and marriage indexes online via other websites,
e.g. https://www.freebmd.org.uk, where they are available to view free of charge up
to 1983.

Search for marriage references on Free BMD or one of the paid sites Ancestry, Findmypast or The Genealogist, then go in the GRO website to order the certificate, only paper ones are available. You choose the Order Certificate option and tick the the box saying you have the reference, then order in the normal way.
