Salterhebble All Saints Churchyard

Hi, i'm going to visit the grave of my DANIELS great great grandparents next week. I have the grave reference of 2/61/S but can't find any sort of plan online.  Do any local people have an idea where this could be, or how big the area is?

You could try Calderdale Library or even the church itself!  It looks like a very large graveyard!

The church itself has a numbering plan, in the "office" area.
Your reference is from the transcriptions done by Calderdale Family history; I don't know what numbering they used, but at least you know that there is/was a headstone.

It's a considerable acreage; they were clearing it about 2 years ago, but I've not been down since.

What you may be able to do is narrow down the area by looking at photographed (with GPS) graves on find-a-grave and see what numbering the family history gives the same plot. It might at least get you to the correct section. I think section 2 is on the opposite side to the public highway

search the database for the surrounding grave numbers and work out which way the rows/ numbers are going. I think it was 26 rows counting away from the building, so yours should be nearer the woods.

Did you manage to find the plot(s) that you were looking for?

No sadly not! It was very overgrown  and the church was shut so we couldn’t see the plan. We tried ringing the church not no answer either. There are 5 people mentioned on it but even a lot of the bigger graves were inaccessible. We did search at the back near the woods, but had to give up in the end due to the blistering heat 😂

Will try again next time im in the area, but no idea when that could be!

If you require a photograph of the headstone - then use search at cfhsweb.com.  Copies are available (according to the website) for £1.00 - quote the grave number.
