Finn/Doran families from Craanford, Gorey Wexford
« on: Saturday 21 August 21 05:39 BST (UK) »
I would like to expand my family search of my G-grandparents families, all from Craanford (Monbay) Gorey Wexford.

Michael Finn b ~1800  married to Bridget Doyle (who I believe was from Camolin) 1804-1884

Jeremiah (Darby) Doran 1813-1882  m Susanna (Susan) Ennis, b?  d 1891
They all lived in Mombay.  The Doran farm remains, the Finn family home is no longer there.

Their headstones are not at ST Patrick's church, I know there are many smaller cemetaries in the area.

Thank You
Shelly

There are some DORAN graves in Monaseed graveyard.

edit: sorry, I forgot that Monaseed was St Patrick's!

Welcome to RootsChat  :)

.........all from Craanford (Monbay) Gorey Wexford.

Here's the townland of Monbay Upper (with Monbay Lower just east), both west of the village of Craanford.

The link to the death record of Jeremiah Doran in 1882.

Here is Jeremiah’s death record (KG, the link is not there) . The informant is Edward Doran.

https://civilrecords.irishgenealogy.ie/churchrecords/images/deaths_returns/deaths_1882/06386/4833418.pdf

I can’t see Susanna’s death.
Edward in 1901?

I have posted these as a starting point.  When you say you ‘want to expand your search’, what are you looking for? Do you have the children of Jeremiah,  for example?

Thanks so much!

When I try to get records at that site, I just get a loading circle.....  But can see Jeremiah Dorans death record- thanks!!!

For the Dorans, a family member did give me genealogy down from Jeremiah- so I would like records earlier- and info on Susanna Ennis- have no info on her at all.

For The Finn family, I would love to go further back, I have the kids names, but have no info until the present generation.  The kids that did NOT immigrate to the US are Kate, Michael and Mary.  I am specifically interested in Michael's line.

Thanks so much-and sorry I was not specific in the first place!  I would also love to know where they are buried.

Yes- have been to Monseed/St Patricks : )  They are not buried there.  The church burned down and was rebuilt later in the 1800's I believe, so local records were destroyed.

I think it is going to be difficult. The parish registers online are too late for your dates
https://registers.nli.ie/parishes/0590

The Tithe Applotments records show  Arthur Doran, Edward Doran and Finn in Monbay
http://titheapplotmentbooks.nationalarchives.ie/search/tab/home.jsp

As does Griffiths Valuation http://www.askaboutireland.ie/griffith-valuation/

You might find the odd reference in newspapers  :-\

Hi. I have a copy of a book containing details of the inscriptions on the headstones in each of the cemeteries in the Craanford parish (which includes the Monaseed area). Wont be able to access it until midweek but will check then. My great great grandfather was a Denis Finn born in Monbay c1800. Culbaire
