I was just looking on a passenger list from 9th January 1958 from Amsterdam to Australia and here we have:-
A. Joke (Surname do)
(ABBREVIATIONS- To save time, inspectors often used terms like “above,” “same,” “ditto” or even an abbreviation of “do” to indicate a repeated entry.)

I find this entry rather puzzling.

Is the A Joke entry of a serious nature.

I find this entry rather puzzling. Is the surname Rem/short for Remakel possibly

what name for the ship?   what port of arrival?  perhaps you could upload a snip of that part of that particular page.

It is a proper passenger list, for the ship Johan Van Oldenvanbarnevelt, departing Amsterdam 9 Jan 1958.
