The OP has the death info. It's inquest info and place of accident that he is interested in.

If the accident occurred on A5, there would probably be only 3 hospitals in the area that would have facilities to deal with major trauma - Bangor, Wrexham and (possibly) Llandudno.  As it was Wrexham, it would most likely be on the the road east of Snowdonia. My recall is that there are quite a few steep banks on that stretch.

Nothing in online newspapers so far.

The North Wales Daily Post covered the area back then.
Their page says contact archives. Bottom of page.

Thank you. I've heard back from them. They have re-directed me to the Hawarden Library so I'll try them.

I would suggest that if it was on the A5 depending upon where it was the hospitals would be either Wrexham or Bangor (in those days the Caernarvonshire and Anglesey (C & A ) Hospital I do not believe Llandudno had trauma facilities.

Sorry if I missed it but does it not say on the place of death certificate ?  If the death is registered in Wrexham you're looking at Wrexham / Denbighshire rather than what was Caernarfonshire or Meirionethshire (now Gwynedd)

Hi Nesta

Maybe you've not read the full thread. The death was registered in Wrexham. The person was admitted to the War Memorial Hospital in Wrexham and died there 2-3 days later. The inquest was held in November but it's not been archived so very difficult.

Glen has contacted most of the Archives/newspapers in the area.  He does have the death cert.

I am surprised that admission was to the War  Memorial Hospital. I would have guessed it would have been the Maelor.  The Memorial Hospital* became a boys school soon after, if my memory is correct.

I had a car accident in Rossett in 1984, we were all taken by ambulance to Wrexham War Memorial hospital where we  were treated and sent home. 🚑

Hi All,

Thanks so much for your help and the local knowledge. Really appreciate it.

The Northeast Wales Archives have found mention of the accident and sent me the clipping.

Thanks again,
Glen  :)
