I agree with all the previous sentiments, Max appeared to be the complete gentleman. Always kind generous with his time and knowledge, forgiving and i would say he really epitomised the spirit of Rootschat.  Yes he will be truly missed by all.

Rest in peace.

My condolences. Max could be described in one word. Gentleman.
One of the most knowledgable military historians I have had the pleasure to correspond with.
Rest in Peace Max.

Zoe,  I’ll miss your grandad's posts on this site, especially where he commented with deep knowledge on topics I have contributed to myself.

MaxD - gone but not forgotten!

Hi Zoe
Sorry to hear the sad news of the death of your grandfather, MaxD . As others have said he was a true gentleman and one who we wouldn’t have ‘known’, had it not been for rootschat.
Best wishes to you and your family.

Hello Zoe, thank you for your thoughtfulness in posting here at such a sad time. Max helped me with several military queries and, although I never met or saw him, I always had a mental image of of him as a grand military gentleman, benevolently helping his less knowledgable fellow RootsChatters and often with a very subtle wit. I’ll miss him greatly.

With deepest condolences to you and your family,
Flemming.
