Watson - death at Eaglesham 1855

I need some help please. Marion Watson died at Eaglesham aged 87 in 1855. On the death certificate her husband is given as "james watson". No mention of whether he is deceased at this point. He and Marion married in 1795 in Kippen, Stirlingshire. There where some children born in Stirlingshire that I know about.

I am trying to find James's death certificate both pre or post 1855. He must have at least 75 and maybe 85-90 if he lived that long.

Research of 1841 and 1851 reveals one possible candidate, a Mason living in Biggar, Lanarkshire with a wife named Marion.

A Catherine Currie, daughter in law was the informant so there is a good chance he was deceased even though he is a not noted as such.  The James who died there in 1855 is not him, different spouse.

You know from her death she is buried in the churchyard she might have a stone and he might be on it.  If there is no stone you could try contacting the church they may have a list of burials or council for a search in the burial books.

There is also the Eaglesham Kirk Session Minutes on Scotlands People which you can view for free there might be a mention of him there.

Son John is in Eaglesham in 1851 with his  wife & 9 children (Marion is not  there.

In 1841 and 51 I think they are in Biggar.

The couple in Biggar are more likely to be JAMES WATSON/MARION GILLESPIE, who had several children there 1799 – 1811.
