Overfield / Wass
« on: Tuesday 30 August 05 19:03 BST (UK) »
Trying to find any additional information on my 3 x Gt Grandparents:

James Overfield born c1806 Melbourne, York
Sarah Wass born 1806 Sutton under Whitestonecliffe

I have them back to the 1841 Census living in Wetwang, East Yorks and still living in Wetwang 1881, they don't appear to be on the 1891 Census.

I know from the IGI that they were married 1825 at Garton on the Wolds, Yorkshire.

I visited the church at Wetwang last week but they don't appear to be burried there.

I have no idea when they died, who their parents were or if they had any siblings if anyone can help?

Di

Hi D1ANE

A little info on Garton on the Wolds
http://www.genuki.org.uk/big/eng/YKS/ERY/Gartononthewolds/index.html

I think you will have to search the parish registers for their births/christening details. I think these registers are kept at Beverley, maybe worth a phone call to find out.

good luck

Hi Diane:

The records are held in Beverley, as I have been there and looked at the parish records for Wetwang.

I know this is quite an age after your post but I have only just discovered it. It just so happens that I have a James Overfield born in 1806 on my tree. I have no further information on the individual other than a little of his ancestry and the identities of his siblings.

His Father was Thomas Overfield, born 1783 and his mother, Sarah Norton, born 1779. He had four brothers, one of whom, David, is my great x4 Grandfather.

All of this family are from Yorkshire and these individuals are listed as being from Emswell with Little Driffield, Yorks.

I hope this is of help.

Regards, Liam.
