Service Record of Albert John Thompson b Daglingworth 1893. WW1 and beyond.

I am trying to find anything regarding the Service in WW1 of Albert John Thompson who was born 8 Feb 1893. Daglingworth.  His Parents were Charles and Lavinia Thompson(Nee Townsend).  Census 1911 has them living on Tetbury Road, Beverstone. During the war he was a Farrier. Albert's preferred name may have been John as this is how he is listed in the Census. Albert survived the war and because there was little work, re enlisted but I have no details. I have tried using Forces War Record Site to no avail. I am appealing to the experience of the Rootschat stalwarts to perhaps give me a steer or any information regarding his Army service. There is a detailed service record for Albert John Thompson 75519 & 274565 but unfortunately he is not your man. He is born 1897 Peckham with parents Howard & Sarah.

In 1911 he is a Carter on Farm.
What evidence is there that he was a Farrier in WW1?
Would have thought there would have been plenty of work for Farriers, with the number of horse drawn vehicles in that era.
Did he marry Amy Cox in 1924? The groom was a Gardener in this marriage and presumably not in the army.

You do need to bear in mind that a lot of First World War records were destroyed in the Second World War.

Farriers dealt with horses, Albert's occupation in the 1939 relates to a different animal.

Have you checked to see if there is any pension record for Albert on Ancestry?
