Mary Grey/Gray - is this straw worth clutching?

Mary Grey/Gray married Matthew Anderson 21 Oct 1848 aftr Banns at All Saints , Newcastle
Of 'full age' and a spinster, father William Gray decd occ miner.
Her age in the census returns and at death equates to her being born 1825 +/- the usual parameters depending on who knew what. Her birth place in 1851 and 1861 is given as Kenton.

She's not a problem to trace after marriage through to her death in 1862, but her birth is proving more difficult

Given the list of possibles I have found for this family (see below) the current favourite theory is that as there is no trace of her baptism at Gosforth  IF her Dad moved to another pit c 1822 and then the family returned to Kenton by 1826, therefore Kenton was the first place she remembered living. Then this baptism may fit the bill?

Well, my first instinct is to say that this is indeed a straw to clutch. I have discovered one or two instances where the place of birth given in the census is in fact the place where the person spent their remembered childhood.
I did think of some alternative scenarios, but they don't seem to apply in your case.
1. Gosforth parish church is about 2 miles from Kenton so they might have found a nearby church in a different parish.
2 They might have had several children "done" together as a batch. Very popular with my ancestors. But the family seem to have stayed loyal to Gosforth while in the area.
I shall keep thinking!

Yes, it 'feels' right, but I can't document feelings so will hold off from adding this to my tree till I see if I can find any alternate baptisms that 'may' be her.
I'm always very wary of making the mistake that its kind of right and its the only one I can find. She may have been baptised somewhere that doesn't yet have records online.

I'll leave it in the 'possible, but nothing else to confirm it' folder for now.

Just annoying that the one child I can't confirm is the one in the direct line!
