David Jeffrey - Scotland (1880s)

My great-great-grandfather was born Robert Jeffrey Reid or Scott in Paisley, Renfrewshire, Scotland in 1886. His sister, Mary Jeffrey Reid or Scott, was born the year before in Edinburgh. Their putative father is listed as 'David Jeffrey'. I'm looking for any information on this man, likely in Paisley or thereabouts, across the late 1800s. Any information appreciated, thanks.

Do you have an occupation for him?

There are 2 David Jeffrey's in Paisley in 1881/1891 - one bc.1845 Paisley and a house painter, the other bc.1849 Paisley, a Railway Signalman.

No Mary with family, however thare was another Mary born in Edinburgh.

Although John & Duncan were both noted as age 8 in 1891, the was no John born the same year as Duncan below but there were 3 John’s born in Paisley 1881 & 1882.

Are you sure Mary was the sister of David born 1886?

Is David Jeffrey named as father on the birth certificates of Robert Jeffrey Reid or Scott and Mary Jeffrey Reid or Scott ?   If not, where is he listed as 'putative father' ?  Who is the mother of these children ?

I don't think those are the right family - it's Robert Jeffrey Reid and Mary Jeffrey Reid that are siblings, David Jeffrey is the reputed father:
