Robertson's from Dunkeld Perth

I am looking for relatives of the family of John Robertson born 1735 and his wife Janet born 1738(her maiden name could be McLaren) They came to Canada in 1773 with their children John, James, Ann, Mary, Elizabeth and David. Their former residence is listed on the ships record as Dunkeld, Perthshire.

Looking at the records on https://www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk, which you can search free, low cost pay to view. I can only see one marriage in the County in the period.

Dates are more likely baptisms; also places and Janet’s name vary.

I cannot find records for James, Mary & David that match your post.

Thanks you Colin. I was going on a hunch about Janet's maiden name but I could have that wrong. I was working with a passenger list from a ship that came to Canada in 1773.
I might be onto the wrong lot of Robertson's:-)

John may have been married more than once.

I think you may be able to ignore the McLaren family, they appear to be from Renfrewshire.

The children of John & Janet appear to be at regular intervals 6 over 10 years probably means John would not have time to remarry. Below are the marriages of a John Robertson in Perthshire in the 5 years before 1763 when eldest son John was born.

I have attempted to match the above with the children on the ships manifest with no luck whatsoever.

There are some baptisms on SP but only the odd one and no consistency. I wonder if there were baptisms in Canada

With the exception of Little Dunkeld just across the River Tay from Dunkeld the other areas are between 10 & 18 miles from Dunkeld so all have their possibilities.

Tracing the kids here in Canada might be easier than going back to Scotland:-) I remember the last names Stewart and Johnstone from somewhere in my notes but that could be from many other lines.
