I am trying to trace an Alan John Stephenson born 28th September 1947
I can find a birth record.  His mother's maiden name was Pound and Alan was born in Portsmouth.
In 1969 he was a junior engineer on board MV British Tenacity.  )The ship had recently left Gottenburg for the West Coast of Africa)
The only other record I can find for an Alan John Stephenson is on the England & Wales, National Probate Calendar (Index of Wills and Administrations), 1858-1995 (Winchester Administration)
Here an Alan John Stephenson of 5 Dimond Close, Bitterne Park, Southampton is recorded as dying on 21st November 1975.
It may not be the same person but I know Alan John Stephenson lived in Queens Terrace Southampton around 1960.
Other than this I cannot find a death record which typically might give his birth date as well as his death record. I am looking for suggestions for where to look next.
Many thanks
Mark

I appreciate that you are trying to locate a death but as this person was born late 1940's he could still be alive and rootschat does not allow us to post the names of anyone possibly living so you should remove all mention of his name and date of birth from your post.

Thank you jonw65 & rosie99 for your help.
I am sure this must be the person I am looking for.  His death in Aberdeen explains why I couldn't find him on an Ancestry search.
You mentioned a newspaper article.  Is that available to view; or have a copy?
Thanks again
Mark
