Hello
I wonder if any one can help, I am trying to find a birth record for Jane Parfitt born to George and Anne Parfitt (nee Rapps). Jane was baptised on 25 Dec 1861 in the parish of Stoke St Michael otherwise Stoke Lane Somerset but I don't seem to be able to find a birth record. A search of FreeBMD only gives a Jane Parfitt born 2nd quarter 1862 - the corresponding entry on the GRO lists the mother's maiden name as Charlton. Help please!

A birth has to be registered within 42 days - meaning the birth registered in the March Quarter should be the correct one.

Thank you - the thing that is confusing me is the mother's maiden name does not match. I believe the mother was a "Rapps" before getting married and not a Charlton.

There is a marriage June 1861 where Thomas Parfitt and Eliza Charlton are on the same page.

There is a 9 yr old Jane with them in 1871 2440/12/1

I would think that might be the birth.

I think you could well be right - so don't know what happened to the registering of Jane?

She wasn't given a first name when registered.
